Taunton, Fall River and New Bedford are the only major cities within 50 miles of Boston that do not currently have commuter rail access to Boston. The South Coast Rail project extends service on the current Middleborough/Lakeville Line to Taunton, New Bedford, and Fall River Find station maps, timetables, fares, and news updates on South Coast Rail, the MBTA commuter rail between New Bedford and Boston launching March 24.

South Coast Rail Map. The project will restore passenger rail service between Boston and the cities of Taunton, Fall River, and New Bedford, via the towns of Berkley and Freetown, on the south coast of Massachusetts. The Phase 1 route begins at South Station in Boston and continues on the existing Middleborough Main Line to Pilgrim Junction, then follows the Middleborough Secondary to Cotley.
